Biography

Doris L. Edmondson, 101, Neosho, died March 19, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, following a sudden illness. Doris was born Dec. 26, 1910 in Newton County, MO, the daughter of Claude and Ethel (Jones) Buzzard. She was a lifelong area resident and co-owner and operated the Red Oak General Store and Dewey’s Drug Store in Neosho with her husband. She was a lifetime member of the Neosho First Christian Church and was the oldest living member of the congregation; she was a former PTA President, active in the Republican Party and had volunteered at the polling precincts. Doris married Dewey H. Edmondson in 1933 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1972. She is survived by her son, Mark D. Edmondson, Neosho and nieces and nephews.
