Obituary

Obituary lovingly written by the family of Anita Jo Reed.

Anita Jo Reed, 77, of Neosho, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved beyond measure.

Born on August 11, 1949, in Granby, Missouri, Anita was the daughter of Ralph Herman and Lois Evelyn (Davis) Dahnke. A Granby girl through and through, she graduated from Granby High School, continued her education in college, and went on to spend many years keeping things running smoothly as an administrative secretary for Leggett & Platt in Carthage.

On July 14, 1971, Anita married David Reed in Jay, Oklahoma. Together, they built 55 years of devotion, laughter, and a big, lively family that became the absolute center of her world.

To know Anita was to experience genuine warmth and open-door hospitality. She truly never met a stranger, was always ready with a handful of lemon drops, and loved to share the love of Jesus or hum along to a favorite Methodist hymn.

Her hands were rarely still—whether she was lovingly at work on a sewing project or making sure everyone in her home felt welcomed, fed, and cared for.

Her greatest joy was simply having everyone together under one roof, especially around a crowded table:

Hosting family and friends for long evenings of dominoes and card games

Filling the house with good food, sweet treats, and easy laughter

Reigning supreme at Kings in the Corner, where official rulebooks were casually ignored in favor of whatever lively "Anita Rules" kept the game fun and the room smiling

Along with her devoted husband, David, she is survived by:

Her children: Judy Hall and husband Master Scott, Sherry Young and husband Terry, Tim Reed and wife Cindy, and Her daughter-in-law, Tracey Reed.

A bustling crew of 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, each of whom brought her immense pride and delight. And cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.

Waiting to welcome her home were her parents; her beloved son, David Reed Jr.; her grandson, D.J. Storey; her three sisters, Lois, Judy, and Sherry; and her brother, R.L. (Ralph) Dahnke.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home.

Services will be held at Racine Christian Church on October 25, 2026 at 4pm.
