Obituary

~ Obituary lovingly written by the family of Donna Jean Henry ~

Donna Jean Henry, born May 6, 1939, in Grass Valley, California, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the age of 85. She was a cherished mother, mother-in law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and adventure.

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart, Jack Henry, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. They met at 14 years of age on Easter Sunday. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, navigating life hand in hand through his 12-year military career, and their diverse ventures—from owning a dog kennel to running a farm and flipping houses.

She is survived by her four sons, Keith, Scott, Joe, and Troy Henry, and her daughter, Kelly Thomas. Donna also leaves behind her dear sister, Shirley Poulter. She was the proud grandmother of 14, great-grandmother to 27, and great-great-grandmother to two, with one more on the way.

Donna's children remember her with deep affection and a touch of humor, describing her as lovingly stubborn, delightfully ornery, bullheaded, a fighter and admirably tenacious. Her faith in Christ brought her profound peace. Her vibrant presence, boundless love, and resilient spirit touched everyone who knew her. Donna was a woman of character, cherished deeply by her family and friends. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Donna lived a life full of love, laughter, and a spirit of adventure that touched everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a family that will honor her memory with the same strength and devotion she exemplified throughout her life.

Rest in peace, Donna. You will be forever in our hearts.
