Gary Lyle George, 76, of Neosho, Missouri, entered into rest on September 15, 2026. He was born on July 26, 1950, in Boonville, Missouri, one of five children born to Warren and Mary Francis (Layne) George.

Gary was a graduate of Neosho High School and spent many years working in production at La-Z-Boy before his retirement. While work was part of his life, Gary will be remembered most for the things that brought him joy: his family, his music, hot rods, motorcycles, and time spent outdoors.

Music was a lifelong passion for Gary. He loved classic rock and especially enjoyed the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, and many other artists who provided the soundtrack to his generation. Whether listening to an old favorite or sharing a song with someone else, music was simply part of who Gary was.

Gary also had a lifelong appreciation for anything with wheels and a little character. He loved hot rod cars and enjoyed motorcycles, continuing to ride until the age of 61. He also enjoyed woodworking and riding his bicycle, and he was happiest when he could be outdoors and active.

Above all, Gary treasured his family. Some of his best times were spent camping, gathering with family, and simply enjoying being together. Family get-togethers gave him the chance to visit, laugh, share stories, and make memories with the people who mattered most to him. He especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. To them, he was lovingly known as “Papa,” a name that carried with it countless memories and a special bond that will be deeply missed.

Gary married Carlotta (Johns) on February 17, 2001, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughter, Christina Milar and Roger Hannifin of Helena, Montana; two stepdaughters, Roxanne Muskrat of Joplin, Missouri, and Karen Grace Braiser and husband, Robert, of Carthage, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kristian George, Justice Ward, and Carson Milar; six step-grandchildren, Alya Clanton, Brendon Coburn, Dalton Clanton, Deacon Jones, Larkin Weems, and Shaw Coburn; one brother, Larry George of Bunceton, Missouri; and two sisters, Beverly Greever of California, Missouri, Penny Brady and husband, Pat, of Fair Play, Missouri, and his many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Mary Francis George, and his sister, Kathy George Mitchell.

Gary leaves behind a lifetime of memories: favorite songs played loud, the rumble of motorcycles and hot rods, camping trips and days spent outdoors, family gatherings filled with familiar faces, and precious time with his grandchildren. Those moments, and the love behind them, will remain with his family and friends as they remember Gary as a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and beloved Papa.
