Ila Jean Hoover was born January 9, 1929, in Neosho, Missouri, one of five children to Bert and Hazel (Caldwell) Daugherty. She entered into rest on July 28, 2023 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 94. Ila was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Neosho High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed decorating cakes and made many wedding cakes. She enjoyed traveling with her husband during his time in the U.S. Navy and working with World Mission Builders. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On December 22, 1950 ,in Bentonville, Arkansas, Ila and Ernest 'Doc' Hoover were united in marriage and he preceded her in death on March 20, 2013 after 63 years of marriage. Ila is survived by one daughter, Sonja Harper and children, Wade and Kelsey Harper and one son, Les Hoover and wife Sherry and children, Barbi and Chris Trevarow, Cash Hoover, Shannon and Cliff Havens and Lyndsey and Micah Robbins; granddaughter, Dr. Kaitlin Hoover, MD and Alexander Schmid; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful cat, Tigger. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Mike Hoover on June 24, 2016; son-in-law, Reed Harper; her parents and siblings, Helen Rolens, Mary Ruth Daughtery, Marjorie Carnes and Jack Daugherty.
