Lester Romayne Ramer was born on December 20, 1942, in Harrison Township, Indiana, the son of Edwin Ray Ramer and Amanda (Bontrager) Ramer. He passed away peacefully at his home in Neosho, Missouri, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the age of 83.

Lester graduated from high school and attended college. He served his country in the United States Navy as a seaman apprentice, deckhand, and storekeeper. He held a private pilot's license and was the owner and operator of Petra Stone Co. in Gravette, Arkansas. He relocated to Seneca, Missouri, in 2020 before settling in Neosho in 2025.

In his personal time, Lester enjoyed guns and ammunition, collecting antiques, woodworking, and masonry. He loved traveling, helping others, and spending time chasing down his family's ancestral tree. He was also an avid writer who kept a detailed journal documenting his life history.

On December 31, 1970, he was united in marriage to Mary Lee Ingles in Elkhart County, Indiana.

In addition to his wife, Mary Lee Ramer, he is survived by his son, Brian Ramer of Little Rock, Arkansas; Gracious Barber, Tina Ramer, Kelcie Stone, and Emily Day; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany Wheeler, Natalee Barber, and Christopher Barber; and three brothers, Ron Ramer, Eldon Ramer, and Steven Ramer.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Ramer (Lori Ann Jameson); his parents; and four sisters, Marjorie Jacobs, Stella Ramer, Ruby Panyako, and Jerry Ramer.

He will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri, during a private graveside service.

A reception will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the family residence, 508 Oak Ridge Drive, Neosho, Missouri. Floral tributes and formal arrangements may be sent directly to the family's home address.
