Obituary

Mark Stephen Spencer, 65, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026, in Camdenton, Missouri. Mark was born on September 24, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Eugene and Carol Spencer. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Raytown High School. It was during those years that he met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Patricia “Patty” Callahan. Mark and Patty were married on August 29, 1981, and spent 45 years building a beautiful life together. More than husband and wife, they were best friends and partners through every season of life. Together, they raised their two children, Lacy and Tyler, and built a family that Mark loved more than anything. Mark was loyal, caring, selfless, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. He enjoyed camping, hiking with Patty, spending time at the lake with family and friends, and making memories with his grandchildren. Being Pawpaw was one of his greatest joys. Sometimes that meant taking his grandson to the train tracks just to watch the trains go by; other times it was an IHOP date with his granddaughters. It didn’t have to be anything extravagant, if his family was there, Mark was happy. And wherever Mark was, his beloved dog and best buddy, Ringo, was never far behind. Mark leaves behind his wife and best friend of 45 years, Patricia “Patty” Spencer; his mother, Carol Spencer; his daughter, Lacy Loffer, and her children, Kailee, Lily, and Lincoln; his son, Tyler Spencer and wife, Excene, and their daughters, Bexley and Stevie; his brother, Michael Spencer and wife, Patty; his sister-in-law, Robin Spencer; along with many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Spencer, and his brother, Scott Spencer. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Banner Cemetery, 597 North Fork Road, Anderson, MO 64831.Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Spencer, Lacy Loffer, Warren Bott, John Mills, Coty Spencer, and Jake Johnson. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held September 20th in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Mark’s life was defined by the way he loved his family, showed up for the people who mattered to him, and found joy in simply being together. He was a devoted husband, a loving dad, a proud Pawpaw, a loyal friend, and a man whose presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
