Nylen Lee Allphin, Jr., a man of unwavering dedication, boundless energy, and profound love, passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on February 25, 1937, in Laramie, Wyoming, he was the eldest of ten children born to Nylen and Grace Allphin.

Lee was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Gail Adolf, on December 21, 1956. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, raising ten children and building a life filled with love, adventure, and purpose. Their journey took them to various locations in the United States, from Provo, Utah, to Boulder, Colorado, from Pinole and Sebastopol, California, to Tomball, Texas, and finally to Stark City, Missouri, where they made their final home.

Lee was a man of remarkable intellect and achievement. Educated with multiple degrees including a PhD in organic chemistry, he began his career as a research chemist, making groundbreaking advancements in oil additives for Chevron. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found multiple successful businesses, including two chemical companies. His most successful business achievement was the creation of The Employer Advantage in Joplin, Missouri, where he served as the president and CEO for three decades, leaving an indelible mark on the business landscape.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lee served diligently in various leadership positions, including bishop, stake president, interim mission president, and temple worker. His faith was the guiding light that illuminated his path, shaping his values and principles.

Beyond his professional and religious endeavors, Lee was cherished for his remarkable qualities. A hard-working individual, a natural leader, and a captivating storyteller and writer, he possessed a musical talent that enchanted all who heard him. His green thumb earned him the title of master gardener, and his roses and vegetable gardens were a testament to his skill and dedication.

Lee is survived by his loving wife, Gail Allphin, and their ten children: Nyla (Jeff) Williams, Allan (Diane) Allphin, Eric (Diana) Allphin, Kevin (Kim) Allphin, Jim (Barbara) Allphin, Owen (Lisa) Allphin, Darren (Missy) Allphin, Loreen (Steve) Flinders, Susan (Kevin) Crook, and Andy (Krista) Allphin as well as 46 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings: Jessie (Gordon) Farr, Marilyn Miller, Robert Allphin, Bonnie (Lee) Caldwell, and Donovan (Jeri) Allphin.

Lee was preceded in death by his granddaughter Carly Allphin, granddaughter Tessa Bandy, great-granddaughter Clarissa Allphin, his parents Nylen and Grace Allphin, and his siblings Harold and David Allphin, Phyllis Meadows, and Elizabeth Oliphant.

Nylen Lee Allphin, Jr., leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and accomplishment that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his remarkable life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 23030 East Hwy 86, Granby, MO 64844. A visitation will be held Friday, April 12, from 5-7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, 12787 B Highway, Granby, MO 64844. Interment will be at the Allphin Family Cemetery, 27644 Nylen Lane, Stark City, MO 64866.
