Sherry Doyle Merrill, 79, Neosho, entered into rest on December 14, 2023, in Neosho, Missouri. Sherry was born on June 4, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas to Lonnie Doyle Everett and Bennie Bill French. She graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She taught first and second grades at Goodman Elementary School for 32 years and taught a total of 34 years. She loved to go shopping, was an excellent cook, and was an avid OU football fan. She enjoyed going to Cruise nights, talking with her former students, and most importantly, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Neosho. On August 6, 1966, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sherry and Sonny Merrill were united in marriage and Sonny survives. In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by three children, Sally Fry and husband, Darrin of Neosho, Amy Landers and husband, Larry of Seneca and Matthew Merrill and wife, Heather of Neosho; two grandchildren, Grant Landers and Madelyn Merrill; one sister, Karen Culp and husband Caroll of Tulsa, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10 am at the Hillcrest Church of Christ, Danny Boggs and John Deffenbaugh will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 pm at the Brookline Cemetery, Brookline, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers will be Darrin Fry, John Kimbrough, David Dillow, Charles Dillow, John Crane, and David Crane. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Landers, Robert Bradbury, and Raymond Arndt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, December 20th, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, Missouri.
