Shirley Jean Carrell, age 85 of Neosho, entered into rest on September 22, 2024, in Neosho. Shirley was born on December 20, 1938, in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, the daughter of Adam O. and Lela (Bates) Barnes. She graduated from Ft. Towson High School where she excelled at playing basketball and was all county player for two years. She moved to Neosho on June 9, 1980, to work as a dorm Mother at the Ozark Bible Institute, a job she very much enjoyed. Shirley enjoyed singing, watching sports and going out to eat. She loved her family and being around people and never met a stranger. She was a member of the Victory Assembly of God Church. Shirley is survived by her four children, Becky Moore and husband, Harvey of Garfield, Arkansas, Joanna Haynes and husband, Robert of Neosho, David Carrell and wife, Melanie of McAllister, Oklahoma and Gabe Carrell and wife, Andrea of Granby; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Sharon Ridenour of Hugo, Oklahoma and Vickie Priddy of Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, numerous other family and friends. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Moore, her parents and a sister, Laquetta Perry.
