Virginia Ann "Jenna" Wilder

Virginia Ann "Jenna" Wilder, 68, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at Solace House in Joplin, surrounded by the beauty she loved most—plants, flowers, and the presence of her family.

Jenna was born on November 8, 1957. Although she spent time in many places throughout her life, Neosho was always home. She worked for both La-Z-Boy and Sav-A-Lot, where she built lasting friendships through her hard work and kind spirit. Jenna was a member of the Hilltoppers senior adult ministry at Racine Christian Church and a regular attendee of Racine Christian Church, where she enjoyed worship and growing in her faith.

Jenna found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved gardening, fishing, camping, quilting, attending craft fairs, spending time at the lake, traveling, and gathering with family for backyard barbecues. She rarely missed a chance to cheer from the sidelines and could almost always be found at a ball field, gymnasium, or activity supporting her grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

To her nieces and nephews, she was affectionately known as "Aunt Jenny," a title she carried with love and pride. Jenna was rarely seen without her a tie-dye shirt or other bright, colorful clothing—a reflection of the warmth, joy, and vibrant spirit she shared with everyone around her. Summer camping trips became treasured family traditions, with everyone eagerly anticipating her famous Skuttlebutt breakfast each morning. Holidays were another special time, as Jenna spent countless hours making homemade treats to share with family and friends, including her beloved turtles, fudge, and other holiday candies.

Her home and heart were always open. There was always room at her table for one more, and everyone who entered felt welcomed. Her grandchildren especially looked forward to her homemade broccoli cheddar soup, fresh banana bread, and the comfort only Mema could provide. Jenna also adored her faithful four-legged companion, Rusty, who was never far from her side.

Jenna is survived by her devoted husband, Gary "Herk" Eldon Wilder of Neosho; her sons, Jason Michael Weisshaar of Springfield, Missouri, and Seth Adam Wilder and wife, Janel, of Neosho, Missouri.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jeremy Owen Neal Jr. and wife, Madison, of Olathe, Kansas; Jordin Wesley Neal of Olathe, Kansas; Layla Dyan Marsh of Olathe, Kansas; Alicia Lane and husband, Ryan, of Nixa, Missouri; Anthony Watson of Nixa, Missouri; Mick Rhys Wilder, Camille Claire Wilder, and Nash Barrett Wilder, all of Neosho, Missouri; and her great-granddaughters, Adalyn Rose Lane and Arya Kaye Lane of Nixa, Missouri. She was joyfully anticipating the arrival of another great-granddaughter, Riley Owen Neal.

She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Jennifer Moppin and Cassandra Neal, both of Olathe, Kansas, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness.

Jenna was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Louise Spencer; her father, James Rodney Neal Sr.; her stepfather, Virgil Spencer; her brothers, James Rodney Neal Jr., Michael Eugene Neal, and Kenneth Leroy Neal; her sister, Karen Louise DePung; and her oldest son, Jeremy Owen Neal Sr.

Jenna will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering love for her family, welcoming spirit, steadfast faith, and the countless memories she created around campfires, kitchen tables, church gatherings, and cheering from the stands. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she started, the meals she lovingly prepared, the gardens she nurtured, and the family and friends she loved beyond measure.

Though deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing that her suffering has ended and that she is now at peace. Her love will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Jenna's Life will be held on Sunday, September 6th, 2026 at 5:00pm at Big Spring Park Butterfly Garden located on the North side of the park, 209 N High Street in Neosho, MO. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating her life and sharing memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Solace House in Joplin, Missouri, in honor of Jenna. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Solace House for the compassionate care, comfort, and dignity the staff provided during her final days.
