~Obituary was lovingly written by the family of Wilma Waggoner~

Wilma was born March 15, 1926, to Eddie and Alma (Abernathy) Spilman.  Wilma attended school in the Pierce City/ Wentworth area, graduating from Pierce City High school in 1943 as valedictorian of her class.  Wilma's parents and the parents of two of her classmates pooled their ration stamps to purchase a large roast to be served at a celebration of their graduation.  After graduation, she attended business college in Springfield and worked at Four States Wholesale Appliance for several years.

Eddie and Alma Spilman rented a house near Diamond from John and Mazie Waggoner.  Wilma came to visit one weekend.  The Waggoner's son, Roy, introduced himself and invited her to go to a movie.  Roy and Wilma married on March 25, 1954.  They enjoyed 28 years together until Roy preceded her in death on September 20, 1982.

Wilma devoted her life to raising her children and being a supportive farmer's wife.  She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Diamond, where she taught Sunday School, was involved in WMU, and played in the Silver Bells.  She served as a GA leader, a VBS leader, worked in the nursery and hosted Disciple Now in her home.  For many years she prepared the church giving statements using a manual typewriter and carbon forms.  In her later years, she was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, Joplin, and was involved in WMU and served at the WMU House.  She did these things "with all her heart, working for her Lord, rather than man" Colossians 3:23.

Wilma was also involved in her community, being a charter member of the Diamond Improvement Group.  She and her friend, Susie Greer, were instrumental in getting Meals on Wheels started in the Diamond area.

On March 10, 2023, she passed away at the Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Spilman.

She is survived by her three children, Ellen Gibson and husband, Jeff, Joplin, Anne Andrews and husband, Clint, Carthage, and Allen Waggoner and wife, Tracy, Tokyo; 7 grandchildren, Sara Robertson and husband, Keith, Emily Tracy and husband, Jerrod, Justin Andrews and wife, Cassandra, Jessica Adams and husband, Aaron, Jacob Andrews and wife, Hannah, Casey and Michaela Waggoner; 9 great-grandchildren, Abby and Will Robertson, Stella, Opal and Ada Tracy and Owen and Adalynne Adams, Oliver and Linden Andrews.
