Betty Lee Duran was born March 10, 1939 in Newton County, Missouri, the daughter of Lester Burton and Ruth Lavina (Franks) Lee.  She entered into rest on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Medicalodge in Neosho at the age of 83.  Betty was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  She worked as a journalist for the newspaper industry and was an author of Harlequin books.  She enjoyed writing, animals and doing crafts.  In 1960 at Cook County, Illinois, Betty married Roy Gilbert Duran, who preceded her in death on February 14, 2008.  Betty is survived by four children, Jillian, Elizabeth, Valerie and Sara and one sister, Patsy Lee of Neosho.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hook and a brother, Lonnie Lee.
